Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that impacts every child uniquely. According to the national sensus, it is estimated that autism affects about 1 in 88 children. 

In honor of Autism Awareness month, there are a host of events scheduled for the community.

4/2/2013 World Autism Awareness Day; 12:30-2:30 pm at Responding to Autism Center
Kids activities, food, live music and balloon release at 1:00 for folks who would like to celebrate strength, resilience and hope.

4/13/2013 Autism Movie Outing ; Doors open 8:30 am, movies starts at 9:00. Fairchild Cinemas; Pasco. FREE! Enjoy “The
Croods” a sensory friendly film for families.

4/20/2013 Autism Family Game Night: 6:00-8:00 pm, Responding to Autism Center. FREE
Enjoy an evening a fun, family time and games!

4/20/2013 1st Annual Heroes For Hope Miniature Golf Family Outing: 10:00am-1:00pm. Canyon Lakes Golf Course.
Bring your family to fun filled event that includes a round of 18, lunch and prizes for the kids! Only $25 per golfer and all

4/27/2013 Autism Safety Day; 1:00-3:00 at the Responding to Autism Center
Families affected by autism can get information on Wandering, Fingerprinting, First Aid and other essential safety based
information potentially associated with children on the autism spectrum.

Additional information on all these events can be found at, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.

**The Carson Kolzig Foundation is named in honor of Olie Kolzig’s son, who was diagnosed with autism in 2002. Olie is owner in the Tri-City Americans, and played professional hockey for more than 14 years. Olie began his WHL career with the Americans back in 1988. The Responding to Autism Center is located in Kennewick and since its inception has grown to serve over 1000 families.
