Hundreds Race Down Yakima River Canyon
About 450 runners compete in a marathon this morning in the Yakima River Canyon.
It's part of the 13th annual Yakima River Canyon Marathon.
The race covered over 25 miles, starting near Ellensburg, and ending in Selah.
Awards were given to first place finishers in the mens, womens, and wheelchair categories.
People from all across the country and parts of the world competed in today's race, including one person from Tacoma, who says today was her first full marathon.
"My favorite part was the camaraderie of [the] companions I was running with, and the scenery of such a gorgeous run," said Theresa Strawn, "It was my favorite. It was probably the prettiest run I've ever done, and O've done 15 half marathons last year. This one by far was the most beautiful run."
Bart Yasso, an executive for Runner's World Magazine who has participated in over 1500 races all over the world -- was this year's keynote speaker.
