RSD Narrows Superintendent Search

The Richland School District has named three finalists in its search for a new superintendent. The eventual hire will replace Dr. Jim Busey, who was let go by the district after it learned of his relationship with a district staff member.

Below is the official release from the district:

The Richland School Board tonight has chosen three Finalists for the position of Superintendent of the Richland School District. The Finalists and their current employment positions are:

·            Mr. Joel Aune, Superintendent of the Snoqualmie Valley School District in Snoqualmie, Washington

·            Dr. Rick Schulte, Superintendent of the Oak Harbor School District in Oak Harbor, Washington

·            Dr. John Steach, Superintendent of the Canby School District in Canby, Oregon

Board members will interview the Finalists on April 16 - 18 at the District Administration Building, 615 Snow Avenue.  One Finalist will be interviewed each day.  Interested community members, parents, staff, and students will have opportunities to interact with the Finalists at public forums each day from 7:30 to 8:30 pm at the District Administration Building.

“Our Finalists are outstanding,” said Rick Jansons, President of the Richland School Board.  “Each one is a successful and seasoned administrator.  We are now addressing the task of finding the best match for the requirements of the Richland School District."

After the three days of interviews, board members will make site visits to the Finalists’ current school districts. The Board is expected to select the new superintendent by the end of April.
