Selah Fruit Company President Dies In Helicopter Crash

The president of a Selah fruit company is dead after a helicopter crash this weekend in Canada.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police say 48 year old Michael Monson died saturday about 60 miles north of Campbell River in British Columbia.

Police say Monson was trapped in the wreckage and unable to escape -- a team was sent out to recover the body yesterday afternoon.

The helicopter owner told police Monson and 5 others were out on a fishing trip that morning -- and were not heard from since since they left.

"[it was] Around 3 o clock in the afternoon, a landing, or reported as a landing," said Canadian Transportation Safety member Bill Yearwood, "It just seemed inconsistent with the operation for it to be there that long, so he went out looking."

The 5 other passengers were not harmed.

We contacted several of Monson's family members, however, none agreed to an interview.
