Local Crab Feeds Attract Hundreds
Hundreds of people in Yakima get their fill of crab tonight.
Over 600 people attended the 57th annual West Valley Kiwanis Club Crab Feed at West Valley Junior High.
The fundraiser is held to raise money for the Kiwanis club, which donates it to community service projects, aimed at the youth in the area.
In addition, the Humane Society of Central Washington also held its own crab feed at the Harmon Center.
About 300 people attended that dinner, which was raising money for the humane society's spay and neuter program.
"I think it shows that the community is supportive of each other if they're all going to events like this," said Amy Cook, "It seems like a tight community, so the fact that everybody gets together like this is pretty awesome."
"I'm here to celebrate my 13th birthday, I also love crab and helping the community," said Danielle Swanson.
The Kiwanis crab feed is expected to raise over $6,000, while the humane society's crab feed is expected to raise about $10,000.
