5th graders gather at Benton Co. Fairgrounds for Farm Fair
More than 1,000 5th graders from across the Tri-Cities are gathering at the Benton County Fairgrounds this week to learn about farm work and agriculture.
The 20th annual Farm Fair is being held today and tomorrow.
Students are meeting with dozens of farm and food organizations.
This morning, the students checked out live exhibits, listened to presentations, and even played games - one game showed the students how to milk a cow.
The event also shows students where food comes from and how it gets to your table.
"We learn a lot about farming, what people do, what they like to do, all about what they do. Just a lot of random things" said Kendall Kiddy, Country Christian School.
"Probably, the most surprising thing is that they use potatoes to make hairspray" said Matthew Mahler, Country Christian School.
Many students attending the fair say they are thinking about being farmers when they get older.
