Kennewick Principal Receives Award
The Association of Washington State Principals honored Kautzky as the top elementary school principal in a region covering twelve school districts in Benton, Franklin, and Walla Walla counties.
Kautzky’s career in education spans 28 years. She got her start as an elementary school teacher before becoming an administrator for the Kennewick School District. She was hired as a principal at Southgate Elementary in 2004, and six years later would help build Cottonwood Elementary as the principal there. She hopes to change children’s lives through her work in education.
“I think when you get to be that person to provide an opportunity for a student to learn and grow, you can change the world and I think it takes one person at a time to do that,” says Kautzky.
Kautzky will be competing for the State Elementary Principal of the Year award this spring. She says she is most proud of the school’s rigorous curriculum and dedication to students. She says school should be hard work, but also very fun for students to excel.
