Mental Health Forum Focuses On One Approach

There were many community organizations present at the forum Thursday morning, including law enforcement officials, mental health agencies, and citizen advocates.

Michelle Bodine was one community member present who is working towards creating a “One Step Neurological and Mental Health Services Coordination.”

Bodine’s son was diagnosed with multiple neurological disorders, but she says he now leads a normal life, due to her seeking resources and helping him at home. But, she says it was a difficult diagnosis as there were no resources easily available in the Tri-Cities.

"Its always been a passion of mine and then I found that I was in need of those services, and they didn’t exist,” says Bodine.

The goal of the One Step approach is to create a collaborative system between local organizations, that will better facilitate treatment and enhance knowledge of mental health disorders in the community.
